Learn from Aidan about growing organic food on Tattie Hoaker, as he walks you around his farm nestled between Benwisken and the Atlantic ocean. Cycle from Tattie Hoaker through some of the most scenic countryside in Ireland with panoramic views of Donegal Bay, Benbulben and Lough Melvin to Ragged Jacks Cafe at the Organic Centre. Here, Claire will look after us with a deliciously prepared lunch of organically produced food. After lunch you can opt for a tour of the Organic Centre to learn more about organic vegetables, fruit growing and sustainability. From here we will return by bike through quiet Leitrim lanes back to where we started at Tattie Hoaker farm.

The Cycle.

An event organised by Crank + Cog.

Starting at Tattie Hoaker’s farm on the Sligo/Leitrim border just off the N15, we will begin our cycle after Aidan’s tour of his organic farm.

We will be cycling along quiet country lanes with very little traffic flow.

The route we have chosen winds through stunning country-side of stonewalled, tree-lined fields, open bog, sweeping valleys and sparkling lakes.

There will be plenty of opportunity to stop to take photographs or to simply enjoy the peace and tranquility of this remote area.

Lunch is at the half way mark on the cycle and will be thoughtfully prepared by Claire of Ragged Jacks Cafe (which is based in the Organic Centre), reflecting the plants we saw at Tattie Hoaker’s organic farm.

After lunch a member of the Organic Centre staff will take you on a tour of the beautiful gardens and grounds and give some world class advice on all things organic and gardening.

From the Organic Centre we will begin our return cycle back to Tattie Hoaker. About 8kms from the Organic Centre we will begin our 4km climb, take your time, go slow and steady – you won’t even know you are on a hill! Once you reach the top you are rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding country side, including Slieve League, the coasts of Donegal & Sligo and of course the majestic Lough Melvin. Enjoy the down hill spin!
