June 22 – June 24, 2018
We are at the early and giddy stages of planning a festival of cycling and hiking the wilds of Leitrim in the North West of Ireland.
Dates have been confirmed and venues booked. We’re planning some amazing routes and campout locations. A request for fine weather is pending…
The aim of the hike + bike festival is to celebrate Leitrim for its wonderful walking and cycling routes, to bring people together to learn about the future of hiking and cycling in the area, to build a community that can be involved in developing the area and to have some fun.
Its lining up to be a great weekend. There will be bikes, food, music, workshops, talks, hills, lakes, foraging, boreens, campout, bunting, maps, art, saddle-sores, tan-lines… aaaannnndddd ice-cream!
Keep an eye here for further details.
Below are a few tracks and roads to whet your appetite!
Stay tuned!
Well feck ye anyway:) I was thinking of starting a similar event in conjunction with IMMRAMA fest. in Lismore, Co. Waterford. Now I won’t have to, I can go to ye’re one instead. Phew! glad to have got out of that. See you all in Leitrim instead.

Lismore is the home of Dervla Murphy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dervla_Murphy and the international travel writers fest and I have a possible location for camping in hotel grounds. Great routes in all the area so hope yours is a success this year.

I know that part of the country pretty well Thomas, I lead cycle tours from Dungarvin up to Cashel. We pass through Lismore on the way.

Hi.
This sounds like a super event! The very best of luck with the planning of it.
Do give us a shout here in Cyclist.ie if you would like another speaker for one of your events. We are working away on normalising everyday cycling – both utility and recreational – and also love coming to festivals! We organise the bicycle space in the Global Green Area of the Electric Picnic every year. Cyclist.ie is the member for Ireland of the European Cyclists’ Federation so we are plugged into a lot of what is happening in the cycling space all across the globe – and happy to share lots of ideas on bicycle goings-on with you.
Best wishes,
Dr. Damien Ó Tuama,
National Cycling Coordinator,

and An Taisce – the National Trust for Ireland,
The Tailor’s Hall, Back Lane, Dublin 8.
